Simple tips to help you survive a long flight
When you need 10 hours to fly from Kiev to Bangkok, New York or Beijing, I really want to learn how to teleport. From thoughts that I have to spend almost half a day on the plane my mood deteriorates and my left eye begins to twitch. We learned how to make a long flight comfortable and spend time on board with benefit. Read our 10 tips and make sure in practice that they work.
Tip # 1: Change your diet before flying
A few days before the start, exclude too fatty, spicy, salty foods and alcohol from the diet. A tired vestibular apparatus and an overloaded stomach are not the traveler’s best friends.
Tip number 2. Choose the right place and settle in comfort
The front rows of the aircraft are usually preferred by passengers with kids. If you fly without children and want to hide from the noise, buy places away. The chairs in the tail often remain empty, they can be laid out and get enough sleep. But the closeness of the toilets and the line in front of them can be annoying. Turbulence is least felt in the middle rows (next to the wing). The most comfortable places near the portholes. Cabin attendants and other passengers will not walk past you, and natural light is great for reading. True, in order to get out yourself, you have to disturb your neighbors every time.
Take away all the things in advance, except for those that are needed during the flight, on the top shelf and sit back.
Tip number 3. Make an entertainment program
Think on the ground what you will do on the plane. Take your tablet or laptop with you, pick up movies in advance, and create a playlist of your favorite music. Also on board you can read a book, parse mail, make a complex analytical report, or write a blog post. Remember to charge your gadgets and grab an external battery with you.

Tip number 4. Fly in comfortable clothes and shoes
To sit for 8-10 hours in tight jeans or shoes that crush is torture. Choose soft, loose, and most comfortable things. No heels, squeezing elastic bands and belts! Wear sweatpants, warm socks, and a T-shirt to feel comfortable. It’s cool on the plane, so a warm sweater or sweatshirt will come in handy. Put the changeable clothes in your hand luggage to look elegant again upon arrival.
Tip # 5. Take a snack and drink more water.
Do not rely entirely on the on-board menu. Take along a bar of chocolate, dried fruit, or nuts. You will be glad to them when you want to eat. Due to the very dry air in the aircraft, try to drink plenty of water. This will help to prevent sore throat and unpleasant dry mouth. Coffee and alcohol, which contribute to dehydration, are best avoided.
Tip number 6. Do not stay too long
Do a little workout every hour. You can simply change the position of the body and stretch, but it is better to get up and walk a little through the cabin. Otherwise, swollen legs, drowsiness and back pain await you at the end of the flight. Who will like it?
Tip number 7. Take care of moisturizing the skin
Take wet wipes with you. Feel free to use moisturizers for face and hands on board. Dehydration of the skin causes discomfort, which we do not need on the way to Sri Lanka!
Tip # 8: Don’t Forget Noise Canceling Headphones and Ear Plugs
In these headphones you can bother anyone, enjoy your favorite music and not hear the chatter of passengers. When the music is boring, put on your ear plugs.
Tip number 9. Take care of a comfortable sleep
Do not ignore the neck pillow and sleep mask. With them you can easily fall asleep even in the light and will not crawl on the shoulder of an unfamiliar neighbor.
Tip number 10. Turn the clock
Set the time of the country in which you are going on the chronometer. Thus, you will begin to get used to the new time zone from the first minute of the flight.
Treat a long flight as a great opportunity to take time, reflect and relax. Keep a positive attitude, be friendly with stewardesses and do not worry about anything. In general, sit back and tune in for a fascinating journey.
